Road Restrictions coming Monday 3/3/25- Changes to Garbage Pickup 

There will be a 30 yard Waste Management open top roll off container at the Township Hall, 29257 US Hwy 41, for residents to bring their trash to during the week and it will be swapped out with a fresh one weekly.  

Trash will continue to be picked up for properties located on US Highway 41 and must be out by 7:00 am on Friday Mornings. 

Mom's Meals- Home Delivered Meals

Mom's Meals, which is managed by DISCA (Dickinson Iron Community Service Agency), is for homebound seniors that can receive refrigerator ready meals delivered directly to your home.  Residents in Spurr Township do qualify for delivered meals if homebound.  

To receive Home Delivered Meals, please call. If there is no waiting list, meals will begin immediately, however an in-depth assessment must be completed in the participant's home to determine eligibility and develop a service plan.

Who Qualifies: Seniors ages 60+

RECYCLING 

Recycling keys have arrived and can be picked up by residents during office hours.  One key issued per property and if you lose your key its a $25. replacement fee.  

Normal Business hours are as follows: 

 Monday: 1:00 pm-4:00pm

Tuesday: 12:00pm-3:00pm

Wednesday: 12:00 pm-3:00pm

Thursday:  12:00pm-3:00pm

Friday: Closed

THE FOLLOWING ITEMS WILL BE ACCEPTED: 

1. Flattened Cardboard:   Remove any shipping materials, break down and flatten boxes. 

2. Metal Containers: Clean and empty aluminum & metal food and beverage containers. 

3. Mixed Paper: Newspapers, magazines, catalogs, junk mail, office paper, cereal and food boxes. 

4. Plastic Containers: Clean and empty food and beverage containers, soap bottles and jugs, empty pill bottles.

NON -RECYCLING ITEMS THAT WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED ARE LISTED BELOW: 

1. No Glass of any kind.

2. Plastic Bags

3. Garbage, Food Waste

4. Food-tainted items such as used paper plates or boxes, paper towels or paper napkins

5. Ceramics and Kitchenware

6. Windows and Mirrors

7. Plastic Wrap, Packing Peanuts and Bubble Wrap

8. Wax Boxes

9. Photographs

10. Medical Waste

11. Polystyrene or Styrofoam

12. Hazardous chemicals and chemical containers

13. Plastic toys or sporting goods equipment

14. Foam egg containers

15. Wood

16. Light Bulbs

17. Yard waste or garden tools

18. Paint

High Speed Internet

We have been in contact with Connect Michigan and Western U.P. Planning and Development Region (WUPPDR) regarding high speed internet in our area.

In order to facilitate earlier access to high-speed internet we are encouraging all Spurr Township taxpayers to complete the sign up form at https://highlinefast.com/internet.

For those of you who do not have internet access or need assistance please call the Spurr Township Hall at 906-323-6166 to schedule a time where we can assist you with completing the form. 

We will be happy to assist you in completing the form because we are eager to have high-speed internet in our Township as well.
