ROAD RESTRICTIONS AFFECTING CURBSIDE GARBAGE PICK-UP
Effective Wednesday, March 4th, 2026 winter road restrictions will be enforced on Baraga County roads which will affect curbside garbage collection in Spurr Township.
Starting Friday March 6th, 2026 there will be a garbage dumpster centrally located at Spurr Township Hall at 29257 US Hwy 41 Michigamme, MI for disposal of all household waste. Please no tires, paints, building materials and anything else that wouldn't be accepted during curbside pickup.
Note: Curbside pickup will still occur for properties/residences along the US HWY 41.
NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
Notice is hereby given that the ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS of the Township of Spurr will hold a public hearing on April 21st, 2026 At 6 P.M In the Spurr Township Hall located at 29257 US Hwy 41 PO Box 228 Michigamme, MI, regarding the following variance application: Application of: Sidney R. Bray Property Address: 21498 Beaufort Rd. w Parcel Number 07-005-067-041-00. Nature of request: The applicant is requesting a Variance from section 401 of the Zoning Ordinance to allow for a 7-Foot setback instead of a 10-Foot setback to extend an enclosed porch.
All interested parties are invited to attend the hearing and present comments. Written comments may be submitted to the Spurr Township Zoning Board of Appeals 29257 US 41 PO Box 228 Michigamme, MI 49861 prior to the meeting. A copy of the application is available for public inspection at the Spurr Township Hall
Baragaland Senior Citizens Center
The Baragaland Senior Citizens Center, located at 6 Main St. L'Anse, MI, is now once again offering a congregate meal on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 11:30am-12:30pm.
Please call at least the day before for a reservation at 906-524-5450.
Cost for ages 60+ is $5.00, under age 60 is $6.50.
Mom's Meals- Home Delivered Meals
Mom's Meals, which is managed by DISCA (Dickinson Iron Community Service Agency), is for homebound seniors that can receive refrigerator ready meals delivered directly to your home. Residents in Spurr Township do qualify for delivered meals if homebound.
To receive Home Delivered Meals, please call. If there is no waiting list, meals will begin immediately, however an in-depth assessment must be completed in the participant's home to determine eligibility and develop a service plan.

Recycling keys have arrived and can be picked up by residents during office hours. One key issued per property and if you lose your key its a $25. replacement fee.

Metal Containers: Clean and empty aluminum & metal food and beverage containers.

Plastic Containers: Clean and empty food and beverage containers, soap bottles and jugs, empty pill bottles.
